Eligible domestic students can access the FEE-HELP loan scheme.
A student can elect to pay a portion of fees directly to La Trobe College Australia, and the remaining debt will be registered as a loan through the Australian Taxation Office.
The FEE-HELP limit is indexed annually (as measured by the CPI index). A loan fee of 20% applies to FEE-HELP loans. Indexation and the loan fee do not count towards your FEE-HELP limit.
All student HELP loans are indexed annually by Consumer Price Index (CPI). In recent times, CPI has increased and student debts were indexed by 7.1 per cent in 2023 and were set to be indexed by approximately 4.8 per cent in 2024. The Government has announced that it has changed the indexation rate to be the lower of either CPI or the Wage Price Index (WPI) – WPI tracks wages and salaries for employees and in 2023 it was 3.2 per cent. This change is being backdated until 1 June 2023 and applies to “all HELP loans, including FEE-HELP, VET Student Loans, Australian Apprenticeship Support Loan and other student support loan accounts that existed on 1 June last year”.

FEE-HELP loan policy requires students to maintain a minimum pass rate, relevant to the number of units they are enrolled in (not their academic pass rate), to continue using FEE-HELP for their studies.
